This Devil’s Food Cake is super rich, indulgent and loaded with chocolate flavor. It’s the perfect cake for anyone who loves chocolate!
This is my mom’s recipe (thanks mom!) and her directions usually included the basics, like the ingredients, oven temperature and bake time. Making this chocolate cake is almost impossible to mess up! It was a favorite dessert at our house growing up.
For making a chocolate layer cake, just double the recipe and bake in two round cake pans. After baking, let the cakes cool 10 minutes before removing from pan.
You can either frost the cake using homemade, pre-made frosting or sprinkle the cake with powdered sugar.
NOTE: The cake will become denser on the second and third day.

I made this in an 8×8 pan. Baked it a few minutes longer. With chocolate frosting it’s rich & decadent!!
I double the recipe to make a layer cake for my daughter’s birthday. This is a super rich chocolates cake….i used a pre-made frosting because my husband watches his cholesterol. Anyone who loves chocolate should give this recipe
a try… if you are not a fan of frosting, dust with powdered sugar, we have made it that way quite often.
