This easy apple butter recipe is made in a crock pot, using unsweetened applesauce, sugar and spices. It is super simple to make, and so delicious. So much so, that you may want to make a double batch to give some jars of apple butter away as gifts.
I look forward every fall to making apple butter, for me, it brings back memories of growing up. Fall happens to be my favorite season of the year. I love everything about it, the change of colors, the cooler weather, the foods and the upcoming holidays.
Spread apple butter on toast, English muffins, bagels, or swirl it into a bowl of oatmeal, it also goes great on a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

Storing Apple Butter
Seal: If using canning jars and lids, you can seal them by using a water bath and boiling for 10 minutes.. Sealing will give the apple butter a longer shelf life (up to a year). Learn more with A Step by Step Guide to Canning | America’s Test Kitchen
Refrigerate: Let the apple butter cool completely, once cooled, place the lids on and refrigerate. It will keep 3-4 weeks.
Freeze: To prevent condensation from forming, let the apple butter cool completely before freezing. Once cooled, place into airtight containers or freezer bags, leave a little space at the top to allow for expansion. It will keep 6 months.
